Role Overview

The successful individual will have a diverse role acting as the direct interface between the Quality, Technical/Operations business areas, External Suppliers and Customers, providing Quality/Technical guidance, support, and assistance.

What you’ll be doing

Main duties will include but are not limited to:

Supplier/Operations/Continuous Improvement
  • Responsible for the supplier non-conformance process/corrective action management.
  • Responsible for ensuring supplier rejects are actioned appropriately.
  • Support operations on quality and supplier related issues.
  • Supplying detailed reports/regular updates related to supplier quality and operations quality as required.
  • Supply chain representative for supplier visits when discussing quality issues.
  • Establish key contacts at our strategic suppliers including Flexcon, Spencer, USA.
  • Main responsibility for the supplier audit programme, including the creation of an audit plan, performing & reporting of findings with follow-up actions.
  • Ensure comprehensive supplier specifications & supplier agreements are in place as appropriate.
  • Ensure CoC/CoA are received from suppliers as agreed and validated against specification.
  • Lead weekly/regular cross‑functional meetings relating to supplier issues/change management requirements to update other members on supplier issues.
  • Critical Quality interface with technical department, operations and suppliers for the effective quality/technical management and resolution of supplier and operations issues.
  • Project manage improvement activities by leading, guiding and taking responsibility for identified C.I Kaizen events, where appropriate.
Quality
  • Maintain all relevant quality management system (QMS) documentation in an electronic system – QT9.
  • Responsible for carrying out internal audits, ensuring findings, reports and resulting corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • Support customer complaint investigations ensuring feedback is prompt, thorough and effective.
  • Familiar with problem solving techniques 5W/8D reporting and/or other problem‑solving methodologies for resolving internal operational, supplier and customer issues.
  • Assist in training new employees on supplier quality training, continuous improvement, auditing and complaint investigation. Providing them with an overview of ISO and QMS.
  • Create, review, and update training procedures as appropriate.
  • Provide induction training in supplier quality issues, continuous improvement, auditing and complaint investigation for new hires and off‑site employees as appropriate.
  • Comply with all safe business working practices.

NOTE: Role may involve some limited International Travel.

What you’ll have
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Proactive self‑motivated, self‑starter able to work both singly and part of multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Experience of working with and communicating with suppliers, operations & customers on quality problems.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change at short notice depending on business priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to write technical documents.
  • Good problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Communicating with internal and external customers on quality issues.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interface with co‑workers, suppliers and customers where necessary.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Confident decision maker based on ability to effectively interpret quality/technical information.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement skills preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 (International Organisation for Standardisation).
  • PC skills including knowledge of PowerPoint, Visio, Word processing, spreadsheets, and collating & presenting data.
  • Familiar with using electronic based QMS systems e.g. QT9 or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA/Control plans desirable.
