Job Description – Production Engineer
Location:
Gloucestershire
Salary: £40k – £45k
Contract Type:
Permanent
Hours:
37 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Role Summary
The Production Engineer is responsible for optimising manufacturing operations, ensuring high-quality performance, and improving process efficiency. The role also supports new product and process introductions, applying standardised methodologies to maintain consistency and reduce waste.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver day-to-day Production Engineering activities within the assigned value stream.
* Apply standard tools and methodologies, including process mapping, Value Stream Maps, Yamazumi charts, spaghetti diagrams, and time studies (MOST).
* Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers on PFMEA, Control Plans, and SOPs.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance flow, reduce waste, and support cost reduction.
* Support new product/process introductions, ensuring proper documentation and process controls.
* Analyse process data, troubleshoot issues, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
* Participate in Lean improvement initiatives and support audits, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Experience in mechanical manufacturing (pressing, machining, assembly, CNC Machining).
* Skilled in Production Engineering tools and methodologies.
* Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and apply process safety and compliance standards.
Desirable:
* Experience with Lean tools (Single Piece Flow, Jidoka, SMED, 5S).
* Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
Attributes
* Self-motivated, organised, and methodical.
* Attention to detail with a completer–finisher mindset.
* Strong mentoring and team collaboration skills.

* Full driving licence and flexibility to travel as needed
