We have an exciting opportunity to join an existing team as a Software Engineering Team Lead
, providing technical and personnel leadership to deliver cutting‑edge software solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong software background, with experience of leading technical strategy to accelerate deliveries e.g. migrating to Cloud, Dev Sec Ops , SRE, and cutting‑edge software architecture and methodologies, coupled with leadership skills to support a team of engineers, working on‑site for at least part of every week.

This is a great opportunity for you to develop your leadership skills by assuming some line management responsibilities without sacrificing the technical aspect of your role.

• Being responsible for providing day to day employee management, performance assessment, work assignments, approvals and recognition/disciplinary actions.
• Leading a technical team and working with stakeholders to deliver secure, high‑quality software.
• Managing your time and the team’s time effectively to develop solutions to cost and quality targets.
• Promoting and driving innovation and technical excellence across our software engineering teams.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation both internally and with the customer.
• Collaborating internally to drive personnel focused process improvements.
• Collaborating with customer teams to standardise approaches and bring best practices to bear across the organisation.
• Participating in technical and business meetings, ensuring engineering elements are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
• Any additional Programme related tasks assigned that are within area of expertise, competence and skill set.

• Skilled at active listening, experience of technical mentoring.
• Ability to direct staff to achieve technical objectives and solutions.
• The ability to manage tasks and priorities to ensure that assigned workload is delivered when required.
• Positive attitude, and willingness to get involved with tasks across the Engineering lifecycle.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on complex topics.
• Proficient in a current software development language such as Java, C/C++, Python, Type Script, React
  
  JS.

A knowledge of:

• Dev Sec Ops  approaches to automation and security.
• Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Cloud technologies.

• Experience of leading and day to day managing of people.
• Ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
• Proven ability to produce cost effective and technically compliant solutions.
• Experience as an Engineering Lead or similar position.
• Experience with Agile, or Kanban methodologies.
• Experience of working in a highly regulated industry.
• Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects.
