As they continue to grow, they are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong HVAC focus to support their expanding project portfolio.
Role

Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will take ownership of the mechanical (HVAC) design aspects of building services projects from concept to completion. You’ll work closely with our in-house delivery team and external consultants to ensure systems are designed efficiently, meet client requirements, and comply with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and specification of HVAC systems including ventilation, heating, cooling, and air conditioning for commercial and public buildings

* Produce technical schematics, layout drawings, and schedules using AutoCAD and/or Revit

* Conduct thermal load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection

* Liaise with architects, consultants, and subcontractors to coordinate design intent and installation practicalities

* Carry out site surveys and attend design team/client meetings

* Ensure compliance with current regulations including CIBSE guides, British Standards, and Building Regulations

* Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases

Required

Skills & Experience:

* HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

* 3+ years of experience in mechanical/HVAC design within the building services industry

* Strong working knowledge of HVAC system design principles and low carbon technologies

* Proficient in AutoCAD and at least one HVAC calculation software (Hevacomp, IES, etc.)

* Familiarity with UK building regulations and industry best practices

* Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

* Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination

* Knowledge of LTHW, CHW, VRF/VRV, and natural ventilation systems

* Experience in delivering designs for sectors such as healthcare, education, or commercial offices

* Working towards or already achieved chartership (CIBSE or IMechE)
