Ambulance Care Assistant – EMED Group

Full‑time, permanent position working 4 days out of 7, Monday‑Sunday (5:00 am – 00:30 am). 38 hrs per week, depending on rota pattern.
OverviewAn Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) plays a rewarding and essential role, helping vulnerable service users and making a real difference to their day.
Key Responsibilities- Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
- Assist in the transportation of end‑of‑life service users with a high level of empathy.
- Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives or friends.
- Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the ambulance.
- Assist with the hand‑over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres or hospitals, or to family at their homes.
- Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar, both in and out of hospital and during medical/commercial flights.
- Assist patients with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
- Ensure that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
- Hold a valid UK manual driving licence (no more than 6 points). Full UK manual licence required.
- Be able to work flexible shifts between 05:30 am and 00:30 am, Monday to Sunday.
- Effective communicator with experience in emotionally charged situations.
- Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
- Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
