Job Summary
The Alney Practice is looking for a Practice Nurse to work across two sites – Cheltenham Rd and Highnam. We seek candidates who have or are pursuing a specialist qualification in Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Travel Vaccinations, Sexual Health, or General Practice Nursing. The position offers a total of 35 hours per week, available as one full‑time post or two part‑time posts (minimum 16–18 hours across two days).

Hourly RatesRates depend on experience and qualifications.
Main Duties of the JobTo attend one of the two surgeries as requested, providing general practice nursing. Duties may include phlebotomy, ear irrigation, immunisations, cervical smears, wound dressings, and other services as per competency and qualification.
Job Description- Attend Cheltenham Rd or Highnam surgeries as requested, delivering general practice nursing.
- Offer patient‑centred, evidence‑based nursing.
- Document all care provided accurately in computer systems.
- Manage nursing care of patients within clinics, using personal recall systems and the practice computer system.
- Work within own competencies and qualifications in line with the NMC Code.
- Develop and maintain effective communication within the nursing team.
- Work safely, complying with the NMC, legislative requirements and company policies.
- Attend regular meetings with the nursing team when required.
- Experience of UK primary care nursing.
- Practical experience managing patient‑centred clinics.
- Evidence of appropriate knowledge base.
- Awareness of National Service Frameworks.
- Experience managing change.
- Understanding of health and safety at work.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- IT skills.
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Problem solving and decision making.
- Reflective, accepting criticism and acting constructively.
- Understanding of audit and willingness to participate.
