OverviewThe Audit Manager will manage a portfolio of clients in the Professional Services industry, providing exceptional service in Accounting & Finance. This role is based in Godalming and involves regular client interaction, strategic input, and high‑quality audit execution.
Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of clients with fees of approximately £500,000.
- Lead large, complex audits and solve partner‑level problems.
- Understand firm‑wide risks beyond audit risk, including reputational and credit risks.
- Help collate data for inspections, reviews or audit technical inquiries.
- Track and chase timesheet entries to ensure proper coding.
- Ensure audit teams stick to budgets and avoid over‑charging time.
- Act as the first point of contact for the client on all areas.
- Support other managers in monitoring and developing trainees.
- Manage additional firm functions for your clients, including tax, payroll, PSA agreements and P11d’ s.
- Respond to clients promptly and provide safe, reliable support when deadlines approach.
- Identify commercial opportunities for the firm, generate new business leads and convert them into profitable engagements.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposals, presentations and networking.
- Relevant accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
- Experience managing both people and a portfolio within a mid‑tier firm.
- High level of with UK auditing and accounting standards.
- Good understanding of corporate tax.
- Experience developing and implementing audit methodologies and quality control procedures.
- Commercial awareness and ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and commercial way.
- Experience in substantive and control‑based audits, group reporting and cross‑border groups.
- Expertise in delivery of the primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP, FRS
101, FRS
102 and IFRS).
- A competitive salary in the range of £65,000 – £70,000.
