We’re looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer (electrically biased) to join a busy renewable energy processing site. This position plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth and reliable running of plant equipment used to convert food waste into green energy.

You’ll be joining a supportive engineering team responsible for maintaining site machinery, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring safe, efficient day‑to‑day operations. This role suits someone who enjoys hands‑on engineering, problem solving, and working across a varied and fast‑moving environment.

As part of the engineering team, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical systems on site. You will help keep critical processing equipment operating safely and efficiently, support improvements, and assist with monitoring plant performance through SCADA and process data.

This is a role where no two days are the same breakdown response, inspections, project tasks, contractor supervision, and troubleshooting will all be part of your regular workload. You’ll also take part in an on‑call rota to provide out of hours support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, and installations on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and fault diagnosis
  • Complete all planned maintenance tasks, logging actions accurately on the maintenance system
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and update follow‑up records
  • Support the scheduling and organisation of engineering works
  • Order parts, liaise with suppliers, and maintain adequate stock levels
  • Work from engineering drawings, ensuring work meets required standards
  • Supervise contractors and ensure safe working practices are followed
  • Assist with project work and site improvements
  • Use SCADA and plant data to monitor performance and highlight issues
  • Adhere to all site procedures and contribute to a safe working culture
What We’re Looking For in this Maintenance Engineer Role Essential
  • Level 3 qualification in engineering (electrical discipline preferred)
  • 18th Edition
  • At least 1 year’s experience in a similar maintenance or engineering role
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience using a maintenance management system
  • Confident supervising contractors and working within permit‑to‑work systems
  • Comfortable working at height and across varied site areas
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Full UK driving licence or ability to travel between sites
Desirable
  • Telehandler, Forklift or MEWP certification
  • Welding or fabrication experience

  • Cycle‑to‑work scheme
  • Additional leave options
  • Sick pay
  • Bereavement leave
  • Free/onsite parking
  • Staff recognition programmes
  • Referral scheme
Salary & Progression for this Maintenance Engineer Role
  • Starting salary: £45,000, rising to £47,500 after successful probation
  • Opportunity to develop new skills across both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ongoing training and support within a values‑driven organisation
