Waste & Sustainability ManagerWe are looking for a full‑time Waste & Sustainability Manager to join the team in our Property, Safety & Sustainability department, based at Head Office.
Role OverviewThe Waste & Sustainability Manager will lead the development and implementation of strategies to reduce waste, improve recycling, and drive sustainability initiatives across The Klondyke Group.
Key Responsibilities- Waste Management
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental legislation.
- Keep up to date with waste legislation; flag required changes to senior team, develop solutions and implement agreed actions.
- Drive diversion of waste from landfill, following the waste hierarchy.
- Minimise costs by ensuring contract value for money, efficient waste handling and identifying income stream opportunities.
- Develop coherent waste procedures, communicate them across the team and deliver training where required.
- Maintain accurate waste stream maps for each site.
- Develop and implement audit and inspection programmes to ensure centres follow waste procedures.
- Record waste data, develop KPIs, benchmark and compare centres and publish data at least quarterly.
- Sustainability
- Act as the principal focus for sustainability within the organisation.
- Develop and implement a sustainability programme aligned with company objectives.
- Coordinate activities of the Sustainability Forum, share best practices and drive continual improvement.
- Collect, collate and report on sustainability activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Work towards bringing carbon accounting in‑house.
- Maintenance Support
- Support the Property Manager as required, including raising orders, filing records, analysing data and initiating minor works.
- Travel frequently across UK group premises and occasional overnight stays; a pool car will be provided when required.
- Self‑starter with strong initiative.
- Financially aware and commercially focused.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Strong organisational and analytical abilities.
- Methodical and accurate record keeper.
- Great teamwork.
- Hardworking.
- Shift flexibility including weekends.
- Ability to work well and efficiently under pressure.
- Degree in a related subject or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of waste management regulations and sustainability best practices.
- Waste Management Qualification e.g. IWM.
- Excellent project management and analytical skills.
- Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
