Main duties of the jobYou will be an integral part of providing excellent healthcare services to our patients, ensuring that prescriptions are dispensed accurately and efficiently.

The practice offers a full range of general medical services, including routine and urgent appointments, chronic disease management, preventative health programmes, and access to a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. With an emphasis on accessibility, safety, and continuity of care, Market Cross Surgery is committed to adopting innovative approaches, enhancing communication, and working collaboratively with local health partners to meet the evolving needs of its patients.
Jobresponsibilities
- Lead the dispensing team
- Writing and implementing standard operation procedures
- Dispense medications accurately in line with prescription orders
- Provide patients with information regarding their medication, including dosage, side effects, and storage requirements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of drug interactions, contraindications, and safety standards
- Assist in the management of stock levels, ensuring medications are well-stocked and appropriately stored
- Work closely with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide a seamless service
- Handle medication queries from patients and healthcare professionals
- Keep accurate records in line with practice and legal requirements
- Adhere to all regulatory and safety guidelines, including data protection and confidentiality standards
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
- Previous experience as a dispenser, preferably in a GP practice or community pharmacy
- A strong understanding of medication types, dosage, and relevant regulations
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear advice to patients
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently
- Experience using clinical systems such as Systm One
- Knowledge of NHS prescription processes
