Vehicle Technician – Royal Mail

Contract
:
Permanent – potential to earn up to £70k including overtime.
Salary
: £44,345 per annum. A weekend supplement for Saturday (£52.10 per attendance) is applicable.
Working hours
:
Full time – 39.5 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern (Week 1: 06:00 – 14:30, Week 2: 10:30 – 19:00). 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off) required.

  • LCV‑HGV training programme. Royal Mail provides in‑house and external training to help develop your career in the HGV industry, including MOT inspection standards, LOLAR regulations training and vehicle diagnostics training.
The Role

With a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, maintaining them is a real team effort. In this role you will:

  • Perform a full range of inspections, diagnosis, maintenance and repair procedures on a variety of vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment operated by Royal Mail Group.
  • Use your own personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repair of light/heavy vehicles; specialist tooling will be provided for common use by all workshop staff.
  • Work with a range of makes and models, ensuring vehicles are safe and fully operational.
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified to at least advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle) maintenance & repair or an equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience (via CV) of working on a wide range of vehicles, e.g. LCV/LGV.
  • Full manual driving licence; LGV preferred with trailer experience.
