Supervisor, Accounting Job Summary
Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, managing department members, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported, working with plant management through reporting and ad‑hoc requests, and assisting the Accounting Manager on any required tasks.
Responsibilities- Assist the month‑end and year‑end process including reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Assist with the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process and provide financial analysis to support decision‑making.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and present financial information to managers.
- Assist in physical inventory and capital asset reconciliations.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including assigning tasks, providing training and conducting performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Participate in audits and prepare requested documentation for auditors.
- Assist in the implementation of goals and objectives and suggest improvements to accounting processes.
- A university degree in business administration, accounting or a related field with a CPA designation is required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in the accounting field; previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports and present financial information to managers.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of applicable software programs including Excel, IFS and One Stream.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities while working under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact with co‑workers, acting as a liaison between different departments.
- Ability to identify training needs and train workers in job duties and company policies.
