Your area of focus:
As an Automotive Technician, your primary responsibilities include diagnosing, testing, and repairing vehicle systems to ensure their security and functionality, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment. You will conduct preventative maintenance, inspect critical vehicle components such as brakes, fuel systems, and engines, and repair or replace parts as needed. In addition, you will mentor apprentices and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Whatdrives your day‑to‑day?
- Perform vehicle repairs and/or maintenance work as outlined on Repair Order (RO) with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and OEM standards.
- Communicate with Parts and Service Advisors to manage production/repairs, cycle times and customer communication.
- Conduct multi‑point inspections, make recommendations for repairs, and ensure the safety and reliability of any vehicle returned to the customer.
- Document all work on the vehicle RO, creating a story consistent with OEM standards and ensuring warranty work is properly invoiced to the manufacturer.
- Maintain an inventory of common automotive technician tools that are not normally inventoried by the Service department as “store‑provided” equipment.
- Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins and participate in factory‑sponsored training classes as required.
- Provide an exceptional repair experience to drive customer loyalty and department revenue.
- Strong knowledge of various makes and models.
- A provincially recognised Journeyman Automotive Mechanic Certificate, completed or in process.
- Red Seal Certification considered an asset.
- Completion of a related post‑secondary program and/or training courses.
- Professional demeanour and strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity.
- Valid driver’s licence and a safe driving history.
