LEADING AT MONTROSE
As the Vice President of the Geotechnical Service Line, you will provide leadership, expertise and an entrepreneurial mindset to establish and sustain an operational geotechnical service line. The geotechnical practice will be an organic growth initiative centered around servicing long-standing clients in the Energy/Oil & Gas, Infrastructure and Mining sectors. Responsibilities include organically building the new geotechnical service line by establishing a reliable team with client engagement, business development, managing and delivering diverse projects for new and existing clients.
Emphasis of the geotechnical practice will include geohazard identification, field reconnaissance, managing subsurface investigation programs, engineering design, construction support, and geohazard monitoring and geotechnical instrumentation.
The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of responsibilities, including:
Develop and set the strategic path to establish a geotechnical practice
Position Montrose as the technical leader in the geotechnical industry by inspiring thought leadership, with a focus on technical quality, and innovation
Provide leadership and direction for recruiting and organically setting up a geotechnical practice
Foster engagement, ensure ongoing communication, and develop talent across the geotechnical business
Drive a culture of business acumen that includes direction and planning to deliver budgeted business performance
Communicate priorities and align resources to drive operational performance to achieve organizational objectives
Partner closely with the Canadian Sales Team to accelerate organic growth through a strong client portfolio and strategic client selection, including segmentation by market
Deliver operational excellence through consistent project delivery, quality and strong resource management practices
Foster a high-performance culture through highly visible leadership that embraces continuous improvement, is client focused, conducts business in the highest ethical manner and promotes inclusive behavior designed to enable each member of the team the ability to achieve personal and professional satisfaction
Engage with an established client base to expand our geotechnical service offering beyond our core environmental service line
Operate as and build a team of seller-doer’s, collaborating across service lines to help develop and support geotechnical opportunities
Apply high-level geotechnical engineering techniques and processes to establish working practices involving engineering work including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation
Perform professional geotechnical engineering services to conduct investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, including subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, geological hazards, slope stability
Remain current in latest geotechnical engineering techniques and practices and take on responsibility for ensuring work products are technically sound and in conformance with industry practice and codes
Where applicable, may lead the operational onboarding and integration of newly acquired businesses into the Canadian operations within their service line
Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering with geotechnical focus
