Medical Laboratory Technician (Andrology)
Location: Guelph, Ontario
Salary: $22 - $24/ hr
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Weekdays with rotation on weekends and statutory holidays
About the OpportunityKatig Solutions is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Technician (Andrology) on behalf of a leading reproductive health organization in Ontario. This role supports the Andrology, Phlebotomy, and IVF laboratories, with a primary focus on semen analysis and male fertility-related laboratory procedures.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented laboratory professional who values accuracy, patient care, and working within a collaborative clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities General Responsibilities- Collaborate effectively with clinical, laboratory, and administrative teams
- Maintain punctuality for work, meetings, and patient-related tasks
- Produce clear, accurate, and professional documentation
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information
- Comply with laboratory policies, protocols, and regulatory standards
- Complete all required training and competency assessments
- Perform semen analysis, sperm cryopreservation, and related andrology procedures
- Prepare sperm samples for IUI, IVF, and other fertility treatments
- Explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a calm and professional manner
- Label, process, and track specimens with 100% accuracy
- Freeze and store sperm samples according to required protocols
- Conduct equipment checks, quality control procedures, and routine audits
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and assist with equipment upkeep
- Adhere to standardized infection prevention and control protocols
- Identify abnormal results and elevate concerns to supervisors or clinical staff
- Maintain accurate patient records, logs, laboratory documents, and charts
- Assist with preparations for accreditation and regulatory inspections
- Maintain clinical competency through ongoing education and training
- Medical Laboratory Technician diploma
- Current CSLMS or MLPAO certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Hands‑on experience in semen analysis, sperm cryopreservation, and related procedures
- Knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in laboratory software and documentation systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient‑focused with a strong sense of empathy and professionalism
- Detail‑oriented and highly organized
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced clinical environment
- Dependable, punctual, and accountable
