Nov 27, 2025. Rotating shift schedule: 0800‑2000/2000‑0800. Pay rate: $19.63‑$22.09 per hour (based on levelling system). Overtime is averaging agreement after 88 hours.
Guelph General Hospital is a leading acute care facility with over 165 beds and 1,600 staff, providing 24/7 emergency care and specialized treatment programs.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits.
- Operate security cameras and alarm systems and report suspicious activity immediately.
- Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
- Act quickly in emergency situations (medical emergencies, fire alarms, security threats) and assist hospital staff during crises and evacuations.
- Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff; provide directions and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies.
- De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts calmly and professionally.
- Document daily activities and incidents accurately; complete reports on incidents, breaches, and concerns.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and local law enforcement to coordinate security efforts.
- Ensure hospital policies and visitor/patient protocols are followed.
- Address violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (WSIB approved).
- Immunization records:
Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, two doses of COVID‑19 vaccine, and two‑step TB skin test. - English fluency (oral and written).
- Minimum one year of experience in healthcare security or law enforcement.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must be able to pass an N95 mask fit test (clean shaven).
- Ability to walk/climb stairs throughout the premises for extended periods.
- Certification in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Candidates without these certifications may enroll in Paladin's training program before onboarding.
