New year, new job. Are you a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer looking to take ownership of technically challenging work while staying closely involved in the planning process? This is an excellent opportunity for a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer who enjoys delivering practical, policy-compliant solutions within a respected consultancy environment.

You will be joining a well-established civil and environmental consultancy anchored in the Guildford office, working with a collaborative local team while supporting projects across the South East and further afield. The role combines drainage design and flood risk input for developments nationwide, supporting clients wherever their projects are located while remaining based within a flexible, hybrid structure.

The role

As a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer, you will work across design and planning-led projects from concept through to delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

* Preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies for planning submissions

* Designing SuDS, surface water and foul drainage systems

* Producing technical designs using Micro Drainage and AutoCAD or similar software

* Ensuring designs align with planning policy, regulatory requirements and feasibility

* Liaising with clients, planners and multidisciplinary project teams

* Supporting projects through planning, approval and delivery stages

About you

This role suits a capable Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer ready to progress.

You will ideally have:

* At least 3 years' experience in flood risk and drainage engineering

* Strong understanding of UK planning frameworks and policy requirements

* Proficiency in Micro Drainage and drainage design tools

* Clear communication skills and a solution-focused mindset

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
