Overview
IT Apprentice (Level 3 Information Communications Technician) opportunity with Learning Partners Academies in partnership with Primary Goal. Place of work:
Guildford, Surrey. Four days a week in school, one day a week to study. You will gain an industry-recognised Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification while working in a school environment.
- Apprenticeship training delivered by Primary Goal.
- Work in a school trust and carry out duties including Helpdesk support for operating systems, networks, software, user accounts and websites.
- Provide first line support for staff who raise helpdesk tickets and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Create staff accounts across various programs and websites.
- Assist in system upgrades and maintenance.
- Liaise with third party suppliers (e.g., Internet Service Providers and vendors) to obtain quotes.
- Support with technology asset management.
- Comprehensive pre-apprenticeship induction programme (including health and safety and technical specifics).
- Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship standard.
- e-learning materials and specialist vendor/technical certificates.
- Access to practice labs to develop technical competency;
Knowledge Base; monthly assessor visits and competency checks. - Support desk (technical and pastoral);
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills development;
Employment Rights and Responsibilities module;
Functional Skills or GCSE English, Maths and ICT if required.
- Passion for technology and confidence with hardware, software and technical devices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desirable: experience working with children/young people.
- Enthusiastic, motivated to learn and committed to complete the full apprenticeship.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently using initiative.
Working week:
Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week with a 40-minute lunch break. Four days in school and one day for study.
Salary: £10,000 for the first 12 months; the remaining 10 months paid at National Minimum Wage according to age.
Qualifications and DurationGCSE English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths preferred.
Expected duration: 15 months with 4 months End Point Assessment. This is a fixed-term appointment of 20 months to run concurrently with the apprenticeship program.
Career ProgressionOn completion, opportunities across our 12 schools; potential progression to Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship in some cases. RITTech recognition upon successful apprenticeship.
