Main Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities include:
- Conduct developmental paediatric clinics for SEND, school medicals, and Looked After Children, ensuring timely and accurate reports
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for assessments, treatment, and follow‑ups, including safeguarding activities and case reviews
- Liaise with other health professionals to ensure coordinated care and contribute to other Developmental Paediatrics work as required
Professional and operational duties include:
- Supervision, teaching, and training of staff
- Contribution to audits, clinical governance, and service development discussions with internal and external agencies
- Adherence to infection control policies, confidentiality standards, and professional obligations
- Active engagement in personal development and support of colleagues
Job Plan
Direct Clinical Care (DCC):
Clinical work, administration, safeguarding, peer reviews, and supervision.
Supporting Professional Activities (SPA): CPD, audits, teaching, governance, and service improvements.
Development and Support
Access CPD facilities, study leave, and annual appraisals covering full scope of practice.
Managerial Structure and Support
Report to the Director of Developmental Paediatrics with annual job planning and appraisal. Administrative support provided with a named contact for medical staff.
Essential Qualifications
UK recognised medical degree, current full GMC registration, and if appropriate current work permit. Evidence of training in all aspects of child protection assessment (including level 3 training) and health assessments. Knowledge of multidisciplinary inter‑professional practice with primary care and social services.
Desirable Qualifications
MRCPCH/MRCP or equivalent, higher specialist training in Developmental Paediatrics, training in a standardised developmental assessment method, epidemiological data analysis, experience in Developmental Paediatrics including clinical management of looked‑after children, assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Conditions, child protection reporting, MSc/diploma in community child health, and CCT in Community Child Health.
Other Requirements
Car driver with own car insured for business use.
