Shift In-Charge/Senior Engineer – Exothermic Process

Role Purpose
To manage and control exothermic process operations in the superalloy/master alloy division, ensuring safe, consistent, and efficient production while meeting quality, productivity, and safety standards during the assigned shift.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Process Control
Supervise and operate exothermic processes for superalloy and master alloy production as per SOPs.
Ensure correct charging sequence, reaction control, temperature monitoring, and safe handling of exothermic reactions.
Monitor critical process parameters and take corrective actions to maintain product quality and yield.
Achieve shift-wise production targets with minimum downtime and process losses.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to safety norms related to exothermic reactions, high-temperature operations, and hazardous materials.
Conduct toolbox talks and enforce PPE usage during shift operations.
Identify potential safety hazards and report near-miss incidents.
Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and internal safety standards.
Quality Assurance
Coordinate with QC for sampling, testing, and approval of finished alloys.
Ensure product chemistry, physical properties, and batch traceability meet customer and internal standards.
Investigate deviations, rejections, and process abnormalities; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Shift & Manpower Management
Lead and manage shift manpower including operators, technicians, and helpers.
Allocate duties, monitor performance, and ensure discipline during the shift.
Provide on-the-job training to operators on exothermic process handling and safety practices.
Maintenance & Coordination
Coordinate with maintenance and electrical teams for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
Ensure proper upkeep of furnaces, reaction vessels, molds, and auxiliary equipment.
Maintain shift logs, production reports, and downtime records.
Continuous Improvement
Support process optimization, yield improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
Assist in trials, new alloy development, and process standardization.
Participate in audits, root cause analysis, and improvement projects.
Education & Experience
Qualification:
B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy / Chemical / Mechanical Engineering
Diploma in Metallurgy with relevant experience may also be considered
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in exothermic process operations
Prior exposure to superalloy, master alloy, ferroalloy, or metal manufacturing industries preferred
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of exothermic reactions and high-temperature metallurgical processes
Knowledge of superalloy and master alloy production
Safety-focused mindset with hands-on shop-floor experience
Leadership and shift handling capability
Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Basic knowledge of ISO, safety, and quality systems
