Senior Business Support Assistant – East Lothian Council

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly organised, proactive support assistant to provide administrative, clerical and reception support to the Pupil Support Team at Knox Academy. The role is full‑time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) or part‑time / sessional, with pay between £13.48 and £14.33 per hour. This is a 39‑week sessional post covering school term time and in‑service days.

Hours

Monday – Thursday: 08:30 – 15:45 (30‑minute break)
Friday: 08:30 – 12:00

Starting and finishing times are flexible. We are looking for someone able to start immediately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer day‑to‑day tasks for the school’s Pupil Support Team, including data entry, record keeping and report preparation.
  • Provide clerical support for receipts, transfers, diary management and correspondence.
  • Assist with event planning and facility coordination as required.
  • Use school computer systems and Microsoft Office applications efficiently; training will be provided.
  • Support the Business Manager and other staff with a range of administrative duties.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with safeguarding policies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education to Higher level, NC, or SVQ level 2 in English, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Experience in teaching or school support roles is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
  • Interns or recent graduates with strong organisational skills are welcome to apply.
  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults – PVG membership required prior to offer.
