Mechanical Design Engineer - Solid Works / Sheet Metal / Fabrication

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

A respected engineering manufacturer specialising in recycling equipment and materials handling is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D CAD designs using Solid Works
, creating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs). This is a hands‑on role where you'll collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure designs meet client and business requirements.

Key Duties:

• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and layouts from 3D models (Solid Works).
• Develop fabrication and assembly drawings
  , including BOMs.
• Manage BOMs within the company ERP system.
• Maintain up-to-date drawings and parts databases.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure designs meet specifications.
• Adhere to health & safety and quality assurance standards.

• Strong background in sheet metal design and steel fabrication
  .
• Experience as a Design Engineer or Mechanical Draughtsman within a similar industry.
• Proficiency in Solid Works and AutoCAD
  .
• Minimum qualification:
  
  National Diploma (or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering).
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
