Job Description:

Engineering Manager, Bridges

Parsons has been a leader in the planning, design, and delivery of bridge infrastructure worldwide for more than 75 years. Our Canada team is looking for a highly experienced engineer to join our growing team in Halifax. This person will desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions to various infrastructure projects out of our new Halifax office.

Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager, Bridges and Marine, will assist in advancing the growth of our practice by taking a leadership role of our Halifax team. You will lead feasibility studies and designs of infrastructure along the most important corridors in our regions, cities and towns across the Atlantic Provinces. Assignments will address design, FEA modeling, inspections and construction services. There will be opportunities to progress projects to preliminary and detailed design, tender, and construction.

Your knowledge of bridge design methods, goals and objectives will be instrumental in helping us win new work and execute projects to the clients’ satisfaction. You will be responsible for working with our senior management to identify new opportunities within the Maritimes, be instrumental in developing proposals and helping us win opportunities. You will plan and define project / program goals and devise methods to accomplish them, as well as coordinate projects through all project phases from inception, planning, design, construction and closeout.

Along with your P.Eng and 10-15+ years of experience, you’ll have experience managing local projects, industry contacts and a strong work ethic.

    Be the face of Parsons, driving cutting-edge bridge studies, designs, and inspections across the region.

    Take the lead as the principal structural designer, spearheading bridge design and rehabilitation projects with creativity and expertise.

    Manage project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met while collaborating closely with clients, stakeholders, and sub-consultants.

  • Inspire and Lead:
    Coach, motivate, and lead a dynamic team of 5-10 professionals to provide innovative solutions to complex challenges, foster growth, and recruit new talent as needed.

  • Collaborate Across Borders:
    Work alongside experts across Parsons, coordinating with our teams across North America to deliver exceptional results.

  • Mobilize Resources:
    Leverage company resources and build strong partnerships with support departments, other offices, and external partners to create high-performing project teams.

  • Win Big:
    Drive the preparation of consulting team proposals, relishing the thrill of winning new projects and expanding our influence.

  • Strategize and Grow:
    Partner with the Regional Director to develop and execute strategic initiatives that expand our market presence in the Maritimes.

  • Champion Innovation:
    Lead the adoption of new technologies, trends, and advancements in bridge engineering to maintain technical excellence and provide top-tier services to our clients.

  • Represent Parsons:
    Be a key player at professional events, design standards workshops, and conferences, showcasing Parsons' expertise and thought leadership.

  • Stay Ahead:
    Keep abreast of the latest trends and developments in transportation engineering, ensuring Parsons remains a leader in providing state-of-the-art solutions and advice to our clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Foundation:
    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering focusing on structures.

  • Professional Status:
    Hold a Professional Engineer registration in Canada.
