Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will join our Atlantic Canada Infrastructure team in our Halifax, NS office, which offers a modern, vibrant, professional environment for collaboration! Our team continues to play a leading role in some of the region’s largest water and wastewater infrastructure projects, as well as collaborating with EXP team members across North America on some very large and challenging infrastructure projects in other jurisdictions.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and shop drawings. Practical experience with process & instrumentation diagrams considered an asset.
Provide onsite daily representation to monitor construction and report on compliance with design, specifications, schedule, onsite safety practices and regulatory compliance.
Tracking and reporting material quantities delivered and used during construction.
Keep an accurate and precise daily log of construction and site activities.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, engineers and public works representatives with obtaining necessary information and to ensure smooth project execution.
Work closely with the engineer, operations team and contractor to effectively minimize interruption to services during construction.
Maintain detailed inspection, photo documentation, and daily reports.
Proactively evaluating the work being performed in order to anticipate problems which may interfere with progress of the work and reporting and tracking deficiencies.
Participate in site meetings and provide input on construction progress and quality control.
Support commissioning and start-up activities, including equipment testing and verification.
Coordinating on-site materials testing and inspection, pressure testing, chlorination testing and commissioning of system components as required.
What your experience looks like
Diploma or degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
3+ years experience related to construction inspection or oversight, experience in complex processing facilities, preferably in water and/or wastewater infrastructure and a strong understanding of building construction practices.
Familiarity with building codes, environmental regulations and OH&S standards.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit considered an asset.
Working knowledge and experience using survey equipment and GIS software
Strong work ethic and communication skills.
Willingness to travel for work
Safety training and certifications in confined space, working from height, WHMIS and first aid considered an asset.
