Senior Python Developer

Position

Description:

We are looking for a skilled Python Developer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and deployment of applications and automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong Python programming expertise, experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), and a solid understanding of SQL, data modeling, and data analysis.
This position is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days a week in any CGI Atlantic location:
Halifax, NS, Moncton or Fredericton, NB, Stratford, PE, or St. John's, NL.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python applications and automation scripts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems, improve workflows, and automate manual processes.
- Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP also valued).
- Develop and optimize database queries, data models, and analytics workflows.
- Ensure code quality, performance, and reliability through testing and best development practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application or data-related issues.
- Stay up to date with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in Python and cloud development.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of proficiency in Python for application and automation development.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms — Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with APIs, RESTful services, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Ability to work in an agile, collaborative environment.

- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
- Exposure to data visualization tools or frameworks (e.g., Power BI, Plotly).
