Corporate Lead – Financial Services (Deputy CFO)
Calderdale Council is seeking an exceptional finance professional to lead our Financial Services portfolio through a period of transformation and innovation. This role will shape the strategic direction of financial management across the authority, driving excellence, accountability, and value for money. You will be a visionary leader ready to embed a culture of business partnering and champion digital innovation in financial services.
Aboutthe Role
- Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team across core services including financial planning, financial analysis and advice, procurement, taxation, treasury, and statutory reporting.
- Establish and embed a robust business‑partnering model that supports service delivery and strategic decision‑making.
- Drive improvements in financial governance, performance management, and accountability frameworks.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders, elected members, and stakeholders on complex financial matters.
- Deputise for the Director in respect of Section 151 responsibilities.
- CCAB‑qualified finance leader (or demonstrable equivalent experience).
- Successful track record in senior finance roles within complex organisations, ideally in local government.
- Experience of leading transformation and embedding new ways of working.
- Collaborative, proactive leadership style that inspires teams and builds trust across the organisation.
- Strong analytical skills and a commitment to high standards of governance and public service.
- Passion for digital innovation and continuous improvement.
