WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
We’re looking for a Senior Dev Ops Engineer to join our Strategic Enablement Lab Team within our Colleague Channels Platform in Halifax. This greenfield engineering-focused lab team was recently stood up to build new applications that benefit not just our 20 million mobile banking customers, but our internal teams as well. Alongside a collaborative team, you will work closely with product teams to support new applications on the route to go-live.
The Senior Dev Ops Engineer will hold accountability for design, implementation, maintenance and support of Dev Ops pipelines, tooling/automation to shape how we deliver code to customers and colleagues. This will include recommending the right pipeline and tooling choices appropriate for their Strategic Enablement Lab Team accountabilities, in line with Lloyds Banking Group Strategy.
Our Strategic Enablement Lab team is growing at an ambitious rate, which will create opportunities for the Senior Dev Ops Engineer to either grow into Line Management or enhance their Dev Ops skillset even further.
Day to day, you will- Accountable for Dev Ops implementations at a Feature team/Lab level, ensuring all services/implementations are stable, scalable and performant.
- Ensuring service levels are appropriate for all Dev Ops services consumed by the Feature/Lab team.
- Spearhead and support the migrating all Group applications from Google 1.0 to Google 2.0.
- Utilising endorsed technologies and applying common build patterns to minimise technical debt.
- Application creation and application maintenance.
- Adhering to Group policies and frameworks for build and release.
- Drive relentless automation of repetitive and tedious tasks (TOIL).
- Actively contribute to Platform level roadmaps around Dev Ops pipelines, tooling and technology.
- Support building a strong team by mentoring early career engineers to advance their technical skills, and by undertaking technical interviews to enable us to hire new engineers.
- Liaise with Central Dev Ops function and build your network across the Dev Ops community within the Group.

What you’ll need- Proficiency in managing and deploying applications on public cloud (GCP preferred; AWS, Azure).
- Strong knowledge of Groovy programming language.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Demonstrable knowledge of system administration (Ansible).
- Strong knowledge of container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Understanding of network segmentation and subnetting.
- Experience with Helm for managing Kubernetes applications.
- Proficiency with multiple CI/CD tools (Jenkins/Spinnaker/Harness).
- Knowledge of configuring and managing firewalls for security.
- Strong understanding of information/network security principles and practices.
- Experience with managing secrets and certificates, such as using Hashi Corp Vault.
- Ability to build rapport with internal stakeholders such as Product Owners.
- Prior experience coaching and mentoring fellow team members for knowledge sharing.
- Strong risk management skills.
- Understanding of service mesh concepts and implementations (Istio).
- Experience with private and hybrid cloud environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
