Unit Summary
The Eating Disorders Service within the McMaster Children's hospital provides a comprehensive range of services for children, adolescents and their families through the delivery of Inpatient, Day Treatment and Outpatient Services. The focus of this service is on children and adolescents with a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Binge Eating Disorder and related eating disorders.
Position Summary
The psychologist will be part of an interdisciplinary team supporting the Outpatient, Inpatient and Day Treatment programs working with patients with a diagnosed Eating Disorder:
Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Binge Eating Disorder and related eating disorders.
The psychologist role works to the full scope of their practice to include formal and informal peer consultation and supervision, psycho-diagnostic and psycho educational assessment, delivery of evidence-based individual, family, and group therapies, and relevant program research activities involving program evaluation and outcome liaison with the Ontario Eating Disorders Outreach Program.
The Psychologist will assist with and drive the development of innovative approaches to care with the program’s medical and administrative leadership. Will work collaboratively with other team members to develop and implement a care plan for children and adolescents with eating disorders, as well as provide specialized therapy services to pediatric and adolescent patients. The psychologist will take a leading role in the delivery of therapeutic intervention and program policy.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday, days (may require some evening work)
Qualifications
- Registered or on the temporary registry with the College of Psychologists of Ontario
- Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university
- Specialized training in working with evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents with an eating disorder is an asset Clinical training in psychological assessment, treatment, and diagnosis or a range of eating disorders along with a range of co-morbid mental health disorders
- Demonstrated experience and skills in the delivery of Family Based Treatment (FBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
- Ability to work flexibly in multidisciplinary team and provide formal and informal peer consultation
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work with and evaluate a growing program
