The Cardiac and Vascular Program services the needs of inpatients and outpatients with cardiac disorders (valvular, electrophysiological, adult congenital and coronary artery) as well as patients with vascular disease. The program provides advanced cardiac care services including such procedures as cardiac catheterization, cardiac angioplasty, cardiac surgery, and electrophysiological procedures.
Position SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner will apply specialized knowledge, skills, and responsibilities in providing and advancing quality care for the cardiology population. The Nurse Practitioner uses an advanced cardiovascular knowledge base, physical assessment skills, diagnostic interventions, and a holistic perspective to participate in the plan of care for the cardiology patient, in collaboration with the patient, the family, physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
The Nurse Practitioner directs the development and implementation of basic and advanced education programs for patients, families, staff and other health professionals and self, guided by concepts from relevant educational theory. The Nurse Practitioner will play a significant role in development of evidence-based practice for the cardiac population. The Nurse Practitioner will report to both the Clinical Director of the Cardiac & Vascular Program and the Chief of Nursing Practice.

Days and Evenings
- Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse, Extended Class with Nurse Practitioner (Adult)
- Master's degree in nursing and/or equivalent graduate degree
- Recent (minimum 5 years) clinical experience in cardiac nursing
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community services and resources
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to promote professional development
- Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and family-centered care
- Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problem‑solving, organization and prioritization
Proficiency in both Official Languages would be an asset.
