Work Pattern: Monday – Thursday 8:45am – 4:45pm and Friday 8:45am – 4:15pm
Salary: £40,804 – £46,991 annual salary
South Lanarkshire Council offers an exciting opportunity to work in one of the largest local authority areas in Scotland. The Council’s Planning Service is looking for a planning officer to help retain the quality of place and provide an efficient and effective planning service.
Responsibilities- Process planning, advertisement, listed building and other statutory applications; monitor development approvals and consents; provide development advice to agents, developers and landowners.
- Prepare and present the Council’s case at appeals, inquiries and hearings.
- Prepare delegated reports and reports for the Planning Committee.
- Contribute to the preparation of planning policies and strategies, and to the implementation of corporate and other service strategies.
- Plan enforcement and related duties.
- Liaise with other sections within the Council to provide information and assistance as required.
- Provide information and advice on planning matters to members of the general public, community and other organisations, elected members, developers, development agencies and other services.
- Planning professional looking to take the next step in their career.
- Accredited planning qualification or a degree in a related built environment discipline.
- Evidence of job‑specific and behaviour competencies as contained within the job profile.
