Care Assistant

Join Our Specialist Dementia Care Team as a Care Assistant at Oaklea Dementia Care Unit, a part of Ashlea Court Care Home. This role supports up to 26 residents in a warm, structured and homely environment dedicated to high‑quality person‑centred care for people living with dementia.

• £12.70 per hour
• Full Time, Part Time or Bank contracts available
• Paid PVG

• Support residents living with dementia, promoting dignity, comfort and quality of life.
• Use positive engagement and communication techniques to support emotional wellbeing.
• Assist residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition and hydration.
• Observe and report any changes in physical or emotional health to the nursing team.
• Work with colleagues to create a structured, dementia‑friendly environment.
• Support residents to engage in activities that spark joy, connection and independence.

• Compassionate approach – genuinely caring about older people.
• Experience – previous care home or hospital experience is welcome, especially supporting dementia, but not essential.
• Qualifications – SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care preferred, or willingness to work towards it.
• Team player – collaborative with nurses, families and fellow carers.
• Willingness to learn – positive attitude toward training and development in dementia care.

Comprehensive dementia care development programme, ongoing mentorship and opportunities to progress into senior roles such as Senior Care Assistant or Team Leader.
