Job Overview

Band 7 Specialist Palliative Care CNS 7.5hrs/week. This senior nursing post combines clinical, educational, audit, research and managerial duties, providing evidence-based care for patients with palliative and end-of-life needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist holistic support to adults with life limiting illness and those approaching end of life within the acute setting.
  • Offer social, emotional and spiritual care for patients and families.
  • Advise, support and educate the Trust as part of a multi-professional team.
  • Support the priorities identified in the six Ambitions for End of Life Care, including Advance Care Planning and End of Life documentation.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement initiatives and contribute to education and training of clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Cover a seven-day service including Bank Holidays.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse with specialist palliative care experience, including leadership or clinical nurse specialist experience.
  • Evidence of advanced knowledge of palliative care guidelines (e.g., NICE Palliative & Supportive Care Guidelines).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to provide sensitive information in a highly emotive setting.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team working and ability to support decision making regarding end of life care planning.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and maintenance of a professional portfolio for NMC revalidation.
  • Experience of working with community, local hospices and integrated care systems in a holistic cross-boundary approach is desirable.
Employment Terms

Full-time, Band 7, 7.5hrs/week, flexible working arrangements, based in London, England, United Kingdom.
