Marine Water Quality Officer
Apply technical expertise in marine environments, modelling and data analysis to support evidence-based decisions for the Environment Agency. The role is part of the Marine team in Operations Catchment Services and spans national responsibilities including Nuclear New Build, major infrastructure projects and the Water Industry National Environment Programme.
Key Responsibilities- Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
- Use data to inform water quality models.
- Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
- Summarise and communicate technical work and, when necessary, escalated challenges.
- Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
- Provide timely answers to technical questions.
- Use initiative to contribute to the team and wider organisational goals.
- Take part in incident response as part of incident management duty.
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (water quality, marine science, environmental science, engineering or related).
- Experience in data analysis with knowledge of modelling software.
- Proficiency in Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS and specialist packages such as Mike or Cormix.
- Comfortable working within a virtual team and willingness to travel for occasional national meetings.
- Training and development opportunities will be provided.
Position types: one permanent and one fixed‑term (6 months). Full‑time, national role with flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Base at EA Office, flexible location.
