Join Awanui Labs Hawkes Bay as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician in Haematology, performing routine testing with a supportive team in a sunny location.
Your RoleHere’s what you will be doing:
- Perform routine haematology testing and blood film morphology.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results in line with quality standards.
- Participate in internal and external quality control programmes.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and report any issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow established laboratory processes and quality systems.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Keep up to date with developments in haematology and maintain professional standards.
- Perform Biochemistry and Specimen Reception duties as needed.
- Work within a small, friendly team with civilised shift patterns including weekday hours, evening shifts, and Saturday overtime; no Sundays or on-call.
The company is looking for:
- Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and an Annual Practising Certificate.
- Ability to work rostered shifts, including weekends.
- Routine haematology and blood film morphology experience;
Biochemistry experience desirable. - Strong commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality results.
- Proven ability to interpret complex laboratory data and report findings confidently.
- Skilled in workflow prioritisation and working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with quality assurance systems and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide technical and scientific advice.
- Methodical work approach adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
- Committed to health and safety compliance and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
- Recent BMLSc graduates or candidates in the process of obtaining registration are welcome to apply.
