Are you a technical accountant who wants to contribute to keeping Hertfordshire safe?

The Finance department forms a critical function in the organisation to ensure that funding is best utilised to provide a high-quality policing service to the people of Hertfordshire.

Responsibilities

• The Principal Accountant will work closely with the Chief Accountant, managing a team responsible for ensuring all aspects of the Constabulary’s management and financial accounts are undertaken efficiently and effectively.
• Leading on the production and monitoring of the revenue budget and capital programme.
• Playing a lead role in the closure of accounts.
• Helping develop a high performing team focused on adding value.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant.
• Proven experience of managing or supervising staff.
• Experience supporting the closure of accounts in a complex public sector.
• External audit background encouraged.
