the team and the role

The Brand Marketing Lead is a critical role responsible for leading and executing the marketing initiatives that will deliver our brand strategy—increasing awareness, consideration, and ‘brand love.’ You will directly manage the teams that bring our brand to life through above-the-line (ATL) advertising, editorial content, and brand marketing partnerships, implementing creative and bold activity that helps Ocado to cut through and stand out from the crowd.

Equally you will collaborate across the business to drive a variety of brand initiatives.

What you’ll do Strategy & Brand Direction
  • Brand

    Roadmap:

    Continue to define the long-term brand roadmap/strategy and the "Reasons to Believe" (RTBs) that differentiate Ocado in the market. Lead the annual brand planning process inc. setting ongoing stretch objectives for our brand health metrics. Managing the ongoing brand reporting process and regular brand review process.
  • M&S Partnership: Manage the brand marketing relationship with M&S and actively ensure M&S is a prominent part of our strategic brand roadmap, ensuring our marketing plans are aligned and mutually beneficial.
  • Commercial Accountability: Own the total brand budget. You are responsible for the strategic allocation of spend across advertising, print, and partnerships to drive the best results for the business.
Advertising & Media Leadership
  • Creative Excellence: Set the creative ambition for our brand advertising. You will challenge our agencies and internal creative partners to deliver bold and distinctive work that builds long-term brand equity.
  • Media Strategy: Work with media partners to define our channel strategy—deciding where and how we show up (TV, Cinema, OOH, etc.) to reach our target audiences most effectively.
  • Agency Relationships: Working with the Marketing Director, lead the high-level relationship with our lead creative and media agencies, ensuring they are integrated and working toward our common brand goals.
Team Leadership
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing team, including the Brand Marketing Manager and the Print & Partnerships Brand Marketing Manager.
  • Integration: Ensure the advertising, magazine (Ocado Life), and partnership teams are not working in silos but are following one clear brand vision and equally champion this vision across all Ocado divisions.
Print & Editorial Oversight
  • Ocado Life Magazine: Oversee the strategy for our customer magazine, ensuring the content is high-quality, commercially relevant, and reinforces our brand positioning.
  • Social and Influencer

    Collaboration:

    Collaborate with the social and influencer team to ensure consistency and integration across plans.
  • Innovation in Print: Look for new ways to use print and physical touchpoints to build customer loyalty and brand love.
Partnerships & Innovation
  • Strategic Partnerships: Identify and land innovative brand partnerships/sponsor ships that reach new audiences or add value for existing customers.
  • Marketing Opportunities: Work with external partners to create unique marketing moments that get people talking about Ocado.
Performance & Influence
  • Reporting: Use brand health data and commercial metrics to show senior leadership the impact of our advertising and brand activity.
  • Internal Advocate: Be the voice of the brand across the business, ensuring other departments understand our strategy and goals.
