Job Summary

The Healthcare Assistant supports patients and clinical staff by providing high-quality personal care and assistance with daily activities. The role involves working under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals to ensure patients' comfort, dignity, safety, and wellbeing at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with personal care activities such as washing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
  • Support patients with mobility, including transferring and repositioning
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients
  • Assist with basic clinical tasks as delegated (e.g., preparing equipment, taking observations)
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families
  • Follow care plans, policies, and procedures to ensure quality care delivery
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
  • Adhere to infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
  • Support nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering patient care

Qualifications and Experience
  • Relevant care or healthcare qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or care setting (advantageous)
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development
Working Conditions
  • Shift-based work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • May involve standing for long periods and assisting with patient movement
