We are expanding our specialist urogynaecology nursing service. The Band 7 post is for an experienced Urogynaecological Nurse Specialist capable of coordinating and delivering an expert nurse‑led service including vaginal pessary, bladder retraining, catheter care, TWOC's, urodynamic testing, teaching, service improvement and leadership.
There is also a trainee Band 6 role with the opportunity to progress to Band 7 following successful training.
Main duties of the jobContribute to a specialist urogynaecology nursing service for women with pelvic floor and bladder dysfunction, working with the multidisciplinary team.
The CNS will work closely with the Urogynaecology Consultant Team to deliver care according to NICE, RCOG and BSUG guidance.
Provide highly specialist clinical expertise in all aspects of Urogynaecology and deliver an expert nursing service with a nurse‑led outpatient caseload (vaginal pessary management, bladder training, urodynamics, patient education, catheter care and medication management, post‑operative assessment).
Support the Gynaecology Matron and Urogynaecology Clinical Lead in the development and coordination of the Urogynaecology service, and at times support the wider Gynaecology service including Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy and General Outpatient Clinics.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThis role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UKVISA Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship is provided where applicants meet UKVI requirements.
- Communicate highly complex, sensitive or contentious information effectively with patients, relatives and healthcare professionals.
- Act as a point of contact within the Trust for urogynaecology within Women’s Health.
- Attend, coordinate and lead specialist MDT meetings.
- Deliver a highly specialist individual service to patients with urogynaecological problems.
- Collect and analyse data to audit and evaluate performance.
- Support the operational and strategic development of specialist services, including out‑patient flexible cystoscopy, Botox, Bulkamid and sacral nerve stimulation.
- Assist in the development of the Urogynaecology service and implementation of best‑evidence practice per NICE, RCOG and BSUG.
- Support the Urogynaecology and wider gynaecology team collaboratively.
- Teach, supervise and educate students and staff about Urogynaecology and specialist aspects of the service.
- Work autonomously and manage own caseload ensuring comprehensive clinical and physical assessment.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of ongoing developments and best practice.
- Undertake training as required within a personal development programme.
- Participate in the Trust’s appraisal process to support service improvements.
- Act as a mentor for students and junior staff.

- Professional/clinical knowledge acquired through a degree, supplemented by specialist training, short courses, CPD to Post‑Grad Diploma level or equivalent.
