Senior Data Architect

Location: Amsterdam (partly Heerlen)
Hours per week: 36 – 40
Experience: 10 – 15 years

We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to join a leading organization in the financial sector. During the onboarding phase, you are expected to work fully on-site. Afterward, hybrid working applies: 2 to 3 days per week at the office in Amsterdam or Heerlen (with one visit to Amsterdam every two weeks if you are based in Heerlen).

The Data Governance & Architecture team is responsible for shaping a future-proof end-to-end data value chain. A recent analysis of the current Data Platform highlighted the need to develop a Data Reference Architecture
. This reference architecture will serve as the foundation for future platform improvements and will ensure scalability, quality, and reliability of data.

As a Senior Data Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of this Data Reference Architecture and ensure alignment with the enterprise architecture and the overall data strategy. You will collaborate closely with Data Architects, Data Modelers, and stakeholders, translating strategic goals into robust architectural principles and solutions.

• Design, develop, and manage future-proof data architecture frameworks.
• Translate emerging technologies and market trends into innovative improvements.
• Implement architectural designs within cloud environments, with a focus on Azure and Databricks

• Coach and mentor team members to raise architectural maturity across the organization.
• Engage with stakeholders to secure alignment and buy-in at all levels.

• University degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10–15 years of recent experience as a Data Architect, preferably in the financial sector.
• Proven track record in Enterprise Architecture and Data Architecture
  , including the development of reference architectures.
• Strong conceptual data modeling skills.
• In-depth knowledge of Azure and Databricks (Azure Solutions Architect Expert – AZ-305 is a plus).
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum; knowledge of the SAFe framework is an advantage.
• Proactive, result-driven, and organizationally aware professional.

Assignment Duration: Initial 3 months with option to extend.
Travel: 25 – 50% required.
