Responsibilities- Work with the Logistics Manager to ensure programmes and key dates are met.
- Review job boards and ensure the team understands all work instructions, drawings, and schedules; plan works and raise queries promptly.
- Monitor progress against programme tasks and report issues to the Production Manager.
- Support materials control by checking stock levels, preparing ordering lists, and organising job materials.
- Record completed works and report for production close‑out.
- Manage day‑to‑day running of the workshop floor.
- Ensure materials, tools, and finished goods are stored safely and efficiently.
- Manage packaging and loading of goods for deliveries.
- Issue clear work instructions and drawings to the team.
- Support workshop cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and property upkeep.
- Supervise safe working practices daily.
- Deliver activity briefings and toolbox talks.
- Conduct weekly visual checks on tools, machinery, and vehicles, reporting issues.
- Maintain good housekeeping and correct waste management.
- Carry out quality control checks during and after manufacture and flag defects or issues.
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and FSC requirements.
- Supervise and motivate joiners, apprentices, and finishers.
- Provide on‑the‑job training, guidance, and support.
- Act as the first point of contact for staff queries.
- Escalate performance or resource concerns to the Production Manager.
- Proven experience in a joinery or manufacturing workshop environment, preferably in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practices and workshop procedures.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and lead a diverse team.
- Detail‑oriented with a commitment to maintaining high‑quality standards.
- Practical problem‑solving skills and a proactive mindset.
