Our client is a well-regarded property services business with a diverse portfolio and a strong market presence. They are seeking a Finance Officer to join their south Herefordshire team on a full time, permanent basis, although experienced seeking slightly reduced hours are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of finance assistants, taking ownership of their own client portfolio. The team plays a key role in delivering high-quality accounting support, managing end-to-end processes such as sales and purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and management reporting.

What you can expect
  • Salary: up to £29,000, depending on experience and qualification
  • Working hours:

    37.5 hrs per week (Mon‑Fri, 9am–5pm), candidates seeking slightly reduced hours are encouraged to apply (30 hrs per week across 5 days)
  • 25 days annual leave, plus public holidays.
  • Additional leave for period between Christmas and New Year

What you will be doing
  • Maintain client’s sales ledger and monitoring of aged debtors
  • Maintain client’s purchase ledger; process invoices, prepare BACS payments, and monitor aged creditors
  • Monthly reconciliation of client’s bank accounts
  • Prepare VAT returns
  • Prepare monthly management reports including client statements and cash flow analysis
  • Prepare annual accounts information to forward onto client’s accountants.
What we are looking for
  • AAT qualified or working towards is advantageous
  • Experience in Estate/Farm/Property accounts
  • Understanding of VAT and experience in VAT return submission
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • An organised and calm approach whilst working towards tight deadlines
  • Self‑motivated, able to work unsupervised and with discretion
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working within a team environment, while managing individual responsibilities effectively
  • Competent IT user (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
