gap construction are seeking a Trainee Estimator to join a leading contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality public-sector refurbishment and new-build projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of a collaborative and growing team, supporting the delivery of complex schemes through accurate estimating, cost analysis, and tender preparation.

• Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost plans, and tender submissions for public-sector and refurbishment projects.
• Support the production and maintenance of project budgets, take-offs, and cost breakdowns under the guidance of senior estimators.
• Help compile 2-stage tendering documentation and design & build tender packages.
• Maintain accurate records of all estimating information, ensuring data is up to date and easily accessible.
• Liaise with internal teams and subcontractors to obtain pricing, clarification, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with updating trackers and schedules to ensure all estimating deadlines are met.
• Support senior estimators with ad-hoc reporting, bid submissions, and project analysis.
• Learn and develop familiarity with estimating software, document management systems, and industry-standard protocols.

• Previous exposure to estimating, construction, or surveying (work experience, internships, or academic projects are all considered).
• Basic understanding of construction processes and tendering, ideally including 2-stage or design & build projects.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.
• Professional and reliable approach with a strong desire to develop a career in estimating.
