CNC Sliding Head - Programmer, Setter

Location: Hertfordshire
JRS Associates have partnered up with an exciting precision-engineering company in Welwyn Garden City to recruit 2 x Sliding Head Programmer/Setters, preferably with Star Sliding Head experience. One role is on Days and one is on Back Shift which includes a 20% shift allowance. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing manufacturer producing high-precision components to tight tolerances.

The Successful Sliding Head Programmer/Setter – Package:

* £17.00 – £22.00 per hour (depending on experience)

* Back Shift includes a 20% shift allowance

Days:

* Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm

* Friday: 7:00am – 2:00pm

Back

Shift:

* Monday – Wednesday: 1:30pm – 12:00am

* Thursday: 1:30pm – 11:00pm

The Successful Sliding Head Programmer/Setter – Requirements:

* Experienced Sliding Head Programmer/Setter with strong background in precision engineering

* Preferably experienced with Star Sliding Head machines, but other brands (Citizen, Tornos, Tsugami) also considered

* Confident programming from scratch, setting, tooling, and running small-to-medium batch work

* Skilled with sliding head tooling, guide bush setups, sub-spindle operations, and tight tolerance work

* Able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings

* Strong understanding of quality checks using Verniers, Micrometers, Comparators, Pin Gauges, Height Gauges

* Ability to troubleshoot, improve cycle times, and maintain machine performance

* Reliable, methodical approach with excellent attention to detail

* Able to work independently and support operators where required
