Senior Civil Engineer (Water) – Design & Build

Stantec, High Wycombe, England, United Kingdom

The Opportunity

Across the entire business we’re building on top of what’s already been a highly successful period of growth. Our strategy within the Water division for 2025 and beyond is creating a number of new exciting opportunities across the business.

We partner with the top water clients across the south region and the UK, work on some of the largest, most iconic water projects in the industry and promise to design with community in mind by reducing environmental impacts and improving social impacts. We enable the delivery of sustainable development and infrastructure projects that adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Within the High Wycombe, London and Reading teams, we support our clients in delivering projects across Water and Wastewater treatment, Water and Wastewater networks, Storm Water overflows and urban drainage. We have a diverse and challenging pipeline of work across the project lifecycle from asset planning and strategy, to concept, outline and detailed design.

Our partnership with contractor partners gives us the opportunity to work on major Design and Build projects. Our team also supports colleagues across the country, becoming part of a UK‑wide team and redefining our landscape with sustainability, the environment and having the communities we serve at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for a talented Senior Civil Engineer who enjoys working on exciting and impactful projects to join our team in High Wycombe, Reading or London. You’ll be responsible for the project’s civil engineering design and will work alongside overall project design leads to ensure successful delivery and outcomes for our clients. You will also support the professional development of our young engineers and lead the civil engineering team, while accessing Stantec’s world‑class expertise to deliver cutting‑edge design.

About

You

We are interested in speaking with passionate engineers with design experience within the UK water industry or other related industries. You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject. Ideally, you have achieved or are close to achieving a professional qualification (e.g. as a Charted or Incorporated member) with a relevant body such as ICE or CIWEM.

You’ll have a passion for the water and environment sector and for supporting our developing civil engineers. You’ll also be experienced in successful project delivery and work collaboratively with project teams to develop innovative solutions.

Finally, you will have experience in a client‑facing role, leading client engagement and collaboration on a regular basis.
