Job Title: School Caretaker
Location: High Wycombe
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, All year round (52 weeks)
Working Hours:

  • Term-time: Monday–Friday, 10:30am–6:30pm
  • School holidays: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

Salary: £25,625 – £27,770 per annum (FTE)

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive, reliable, and hands‑on School Caretaker to join our team in High Wycombe. This role plays an important part in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, and well maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the daily upkeep of the premises, minor repairs, and the smooth running of site operations throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day‑to‑day maintenance, security, and efficient operation of the school site.
  • Carry out minor repairs, general maintenance, and basic DIY tasks as required.
  • Ensure all areas of the site remain clean, safe, and fully functional.
  • Assist with the setup and logistical support for school events and activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and statutory compliance.
Key Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Caretaker; school‑based experience is desirable.
  • Strong practical skills in maintenance and general DIY.
  • Good working knowledge of compliance and Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH, Fire Safety, Legionella, and Asbestos awareness.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently using initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Must hold a current Enhanced DBS.
