ROLE OVERVIEW

The Jr. Analyst supports the Performance & Analytics (P&A) team in turning PBACO's claims, operational, and program data into accurate reports and clear findings. Working under the direction of the Associate Director of P&A, this role produces recurring performance reports, supports dashboard development, and assists with analyses that help leadership and operations teams improve outcomes and manage cost.

  • Pulls, cleans, and validates data from PBACO systems such as OMNI, Care Compass, SQL Server, and vendor files, and flags gaps or inconsistencies to the Associate Director.
  • Supports analysis of Medicare claims and expenditure data, including cuts by population cohort, service category, and risk score, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assists with building and maintaining dashboards in OMNI, Power BI, or similar tools, including refreshing data sources and making requested changes.
  • Helps complete ad hoc analyses for leadership and operations teams, preparing tables, charts, and one-page summaries for review before distribution.
  • Checks work for accuracy and documents data sources, definitions, and steps so reports can be reproduced and audited.
  • Prepares agendas, notes, and follow-up items for project meetings with internal teams and vendors.
  • Responds to routine data requests from internal departments and escalates complex or high-priority requests to the Associate Director.
  • Must be detail oriented, curious, and able to manage multiple recurring deliverables and deadlines.
  • Support company philosophies, objectives, decisions, and policies. Must abide by all HIPAA, Confidentiality and Privacy laws.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in data analysis or reporting; internships and academic projects count
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and charting
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or R for querying and preparing data
  • Experience with, or strong interest in learning, Power BI, OMNI, or similar BI and dashboard tools
  • Clear written communication, with the ability to summarize findings for non-technical audiences
  • Preferred: familiarity with healthcare claims data, ACOs, value-based care, or MSSP
Reasoning Ability

Ability to think critically, objectively, and without bias. Asks why a number changed before reporting it, and knows when to elevate. Quickly learns new data sources, healthcare data standards, and business practices.
