Costain is the Major Programme Partner (MPP) and the Asset Renewal Partner (ARP) for Terminals 1 and 2, two of six major programmes of work that Heathrow has committed to deliver within the H7 quinquennium. The Tranche 5 Project Manager will be responsible for the Apron and Basement section of the new Terminal 2 Baggage Handling System (T2

BHS) construction works, leading design interface, manufacture, supply, install, commissioning, integration, transition and hand‑over of non‑baggage infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Overall construction delivery of civil, structural, architectural elements and MEPh systems across Terminal 2 Basement (level A0) and Apron (level 00, 05, 10) works.
  • Creation of new structural openings within floor slabs and the building’s external envelope.
  • Construction of a new elevated structural steel mezzanine level (05) to facilitate the new baggage system layout.
  • Internal architectural fit‑out, including partition walls, doors and fire stopping.
  • Internal and external service diversions and enabling works for life‑safety systems, communications and high‑voltage.
  • Planning and implementation of live Apron baggage operation rerouting and phasing to enable construction works.
  • Alterations and additions to existing MEPh, BMS, security and fire‑safety systems, and installation of new MEPh systems to enable the Beumer Baggage Handling System and Fujitsu communication systems.
  • liaison and coordination with AviBC for proving and testing of installed works prior to handover to Heathrow Operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and implement best practices, safety management and initiatives across all design and site delivery aspects.
  • Set clearly defined objectives and manage resources to achieve targets and accountability.
  • Develop and manage trackers and reporting processes to provide progress updates and meet performance requirements.
  • Coordinate with design management to confirm schedules and outputs, ensuring design is delivered on time and to specification.
  • Drive efficiency and continual productivity improvements, creating best practices and adding value for customers.
  • Provide procurement support, assisting the procurement and commercial teams with budgets and incentive targets.
  • Ensure all pre‑commencement deliverables are clarified, completed and demonstrable.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering or relevant professional experience.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS – MAP).
  • Qualification in APM PMQ.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS).
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, BIM 360, Bentley Micro Station 3D and point‑cloud modelling.
  • Previous experience working at Heathrow and appreciation of their governance lifecycle.
  • Experience delivering projects within a live operational environment.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Champions sustainability, safety, health and environment, putting personal safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything.
  • Understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation principles.
  • Commercial awareness, identifying added value and minimizing financial and legal risk.
  • Knowledge of construction contract law and NEC contract forms through formal training.
  • Experience running and integrating complex works packages.
  • Short and long‑term schedule management.
  • Passion for quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to coordinate sub‑contractor activities and chair coordination meetings.
  • Strong organizational skills, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Integrity and a customer‑focussed mindset.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous experience working at Heathrow.
  • Experience delivering projects in a live operational environment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, BIM 360, Bentley Micro Station 3D and point‑cloud technology.
