Tax Accountant
Job Description:
Practice Accountant
£27,000-£30,000
Huddersfield
We’re on the lookout for a practice accountant who knows their way around a set of year‑end accounts and genuinely enjoys working with SME clients. If you take pride in accuracy but don’t want to spend your days in silence or buried under red tape keeping reading, this role is for you.
This is a role for someone who’s comfortable taking ownership of their workload, happy in a team, and enjoys building proper relationships with the clients they support. You’ll be joining a progressive firm with a modern mindset where things are done properly but without the stiff upper lip of old‑school accountancy.
About the roleYou’ll be handling your own portfolio of small‑to‑medium‑sized businesses, preparing accounts, VAT returns, and tax computations, as well as offering general advice and guidance along the way. You’ll work closely with the wider team of accountants and support staff, bouncing ideas around and helping to make sure clients are getting the best service possible.
It’s the kind of place where your opinion matters and your work gets noticed, not just filed away in a system.
About the clientThis Huddersfield‑based accountancy firm is refreshingly down‑to‑earth, with a team culture that values trust, communication, and a no‑nonsense approach to getting things done. They’re big on supporting their clients year‑round, not just at year‑end, and equally committed to supporting their team with training, flexibility, and career development.
They’ve got the tools, the clients, and the reputation to back it up but they still keep it personal. If you’re after a job where you’re more than just a number, this could be a good fit.
Working hours- Monday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Tuesday to Thursday: 8:45 am – 5:00 pm
