Slaithwaite Health Centre is a progressive and friendly GP practice with a strong reputation for excellent patient care and a supportive working environment. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Medical Secretary to join our administrative team.
This is a varied role supporting both NHS and private clinical work, providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to our GPs and practice management team. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for workflow management of private work, including insurance and medical reports, and will contribute to the development of templates, searches, and audits within Systm One.

Main duties of the jobProvide high-quality secretarial support to GPs and clinicians, including typing of referrals, and medical correspondence.
Manage and coordinate private medical work, including insurance reports, medical forms, and other non-NHS requests.
Liaise with patients, insurers, and external organisations to ensure timely completion of private work.
Track, log, and monitor private work for billing and audit purposes.
Create and maintain templates within Systm One to support efficient clinical and administrative workflows.
Run and design searches in Systm One to support audits, data quality improvement, and reporting.
Assist with administrative audits and data analysis to support practice performance and compliance.
Communicate effectively with hospital departments, community services, and other healthcare providers.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR and information governance policies at all times.
Provide general administrative support as required to ensure smooth and efficient practice operations.

Person Specification Experience- Previous experience as a medical secretary or in a similar healthcare administrative role.
- Excellent typing, IT, and organisational skills.
- Experience using clinical systems (preferably Systm One) and document management software.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and information governance.
- Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience creating templates, searches, and audits in Systm One.
- Experience managing private medical work such as insurance or medical reports.
