Project Buyer

Cogent Staffing are seeking an experienced Project Buyer to join our client, an engineering/manufacturing company based in Huddersfield. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within manufacturing or engineering sectors. This is a challenging role where you will receive support from the Senior Project Buyer and the Business Centre Manager to help you succeed.

Work Details & Salary

 * £38,000 - £45,000 per annum

* Full-Time (37 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and prioritise your own workload based on customer demands.

* Analyse and report on the Purchasing Department KPIs to assist the Senior Project Buyer in making strategic decisions.

* Meet or exceed purchasing budgets for materials/components to improve the margins of the Business Centre.

* Develop a domestic supply network to include subcontract manufacturers of major components.

* Integrate UK buying into the global network of suppliers for enhanced efficiency.

* Support colleagues in obtaining current prices and delivery timelines to present the best offers to clients.

* Liaise with Production and Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with company standards.

* Drive cost savings initiatives and foster a global buying culture.

* Develop a strategic plan to establish a global network of low-cost, high-quality suppliers aimed at reducing costs and enhancing margins.

* Perform supplier appraisals and assessments to broaden and reinforce the Business Centre’s supply network.

* Travel as required to fulfill objectives, including occasional overseas visits for customer meetings in support of sales contracts.

* Maintain professionalism with a positive attitude and a sense of commercial urgency when addressing customer needs.

* Ensure adherence to all company procedures and undertake other tasks as requested to support the Business Centre.

Key Requirements

* Proven experience in a similar role within the manufacturing or engineering sectors.

* Strong analytical and reporting skills to assess purchasing performance.

* Excellent negotiation abilities and experience managing supplier relationships.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various departments.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving and cost-saving initiatives.

* Willingness to travel as required.
